War Time

It was the year 1939 on the 30th of August. My Great Grandad was getting into bed when he heard a loud noise outside.
“Honey! Can you please check the door?” Asked My G. Grandad.
“Fine” Replied Nana.
Nana opened the door and didn’t see anyone, anywhere.
“No one!” Sighed Nana.
But My G. Grandad was already asleep. The next morning at 3 o’clock there was a loud bang on the door. He peeked out of the peephole to see people from the army! He quickly opened the door and yelled,
“WHAT!”
“Excuse me, Edmond, you are going to come with us. You are going to fight in WWII. We tried to get you for months but u never answered or were at home. You may say goodbye to your family. Don’t forget to tell them you are going to be a pilot in a war plane.” Said the leader.
My G. Grandad turned around and walked to Nana. Tears were running down his eyes.
“What's wrong?” Asked Nana.
“I am… I… I am going to war as a pilot in WWII!”
Explained G. Grandad.
Nana started to cry and hugged G. Grandad good bye. G. Grandad walked out the door and hopped into the army troop transport vehicle. G. Grandad got upset because he knew he knew he was going to die. A few hours later they arrived at the army camp. When G. Grandad saw how much troops there was, he got a bit more confident. Then over the speaker, the leader announced it was time to go to their stations. Everyone ran as fast as they could to their stations. Everyone then took off and flew away. G. Grandad wasn’t able to train, but luckily he knew how to fly. G. Grandad was flying over the ocean to make his way to Germany so he could refuel, but his plane got shot down by a warship in the water. Luckily he landed on land. Red Cross medics rushed to him. But Germans got to him first. He was taken to a German army camp and got locked up. He was in a hospital cell for a few days then moved to a normal cell.
After the war ended he was freed and was transported back to Christchurch. He was very excited to get back to see Nana! When he got home they hugged for about 3 minutes straight!
About 20 years later my mum was born!
They all lived happily ever after until my Great Grandad got cancer and died.
